Aeration is the process of removing small plugs of grass and soil from your lawn.

Over time, soil naturally becomes compacted through normal wear and play, precipitation, and the use of heavy mowers. Likewise, lawns are often forced to grow in soil with heavy concentrations of clay because rich topsoil is often removed during the construction of new homes. Through the process of aeration, soil is loosened beneath the surface of the lawn allowing the roots to breathe and expand.
